Hi! I’m Jordan, and Shade Cactus is where being a cozy homebody and always planning your next travel adventure come to meet. Here, you’ll marvel the mundane and wish for your wild, while reveling in rest.

You’ll learn about how to support your habitual travel adventures alongside your happy home base (even the one inside your own head). Cool kids subscribe. I appreciate you!

Each month, I share a recap of what I was viewing, doing, and creating! These take a generous amount of time to put together, and I hope they are full of lovely goodies for you. Become a paid subscriber for full access!

The past couple of weeks, I’ve started whispering *fall* as quietly as I can, as the temps slowly (like, painfully slowly) inch down. I’m afraid of scaring autumn away. The sun bids adieu earlier and earlier, and I feel less and less guilt for just wanting to be inside and cozy with my books.

I do want sunshine too, of course. But like a reasonable amount of it. Can I have a sunshiney cake and eat it with a glass of gloom, too?

As you’re reading this, I’m on a New England road trip! Alongside my usual travel partners (hubs + pup), we’re also heading East with my in-laws. My father-in-law has been to 49 states. His final state to visit? Maine! So we’re taking a two-week road trip up to Maine with several spots along the way, such as the Finger Lakes Wine Country and Salem, MA.

Salem has been a dream trip of mine forever! I watch Hocus Pocus for my birthday every year, and I’ve had a longtime, reverent fascination with the Salem Witch Trials (ie, when a bunch of women’s murders were rationalized by puritanical people).

Gilmore Girls references will abound, and I will absolutely be mosying (respectfully) through New England cemeteries. It’s a Scorpio girl’s dream. Sun & Moon, in fact.

But I’m getting ahead of myself! Let’s look back at all August brought me (including TS12!) as we head into the next (best) season.

Is anyone else getting Life of a Showgirl vibes? I swear this wasn’t on purpose, but all of my books had an orange theme this month.

Plus, I wanted to really get into the New England + autumnal mood as I get ready for my long road trip, so I leaned heavily into the coastal, cozy vibes.
