KCMO! KCK!

Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas are two completely separate cities. However, there’s quite a bit more to do on the Missouri side.

(Don’t come at me fellow Kansans! You know it’s true.)

Ope! A Haiku
KCMO, oKay!
See more of the plains — it’s a
real Midwestern thing.

Habitual travel can happen anywhere! Sometimes I find myself downplaying a trip to Kansas City because it’s only a 2.5-hour drive for me.

I also used to live there, on the Kansas side. Back in 2012, within the span of 2 weeks, my then-boyfriend and now-husband and I graduated college, got married, moved to a suburb of Kansas City, and he started grad school.

What a wild ride!

While he was earning his doctorate in Physical Therapy, I was a recently graduated journalism major who was going to become a famous journalist. (LOL!) What actually happened was in the three years we lived there, I had 12 different jobs trying to make any kind of money I could for rent and food.

Needless to say, we did not explore much of what the vibrant city of Kansas City, Missouri had to offer as recently married, recently graduated college kids with no funds.

Fortunately, we’ve made up for that in the years since!

It’s important to note that this long weekend itinerary is in no way comprehensive of all that Kansas City has to offer. (That would be much longer than a long weekend!)

You also won’t find anything sports-related in this itinerary. Many are probably appalled, knowing we have both the football and baseball sports represented in KC. (And maybe others? I have no idea.) But I am honestly just not the go-to person when it comes to Sportsball! recommendations.

But for those looking for fun food, drinks, shops, and museums during a leisurely weekend, read on!
