Shade Cactus is a subscriber-supported newsletter of habitual travel adventures, poetry, and other lovely ways to appreciate the aesthetic. I appreciate you!

I am tickled to be sending out this newsletter to you. It’s a little honor to have a place in your inbox (or your Substack feed)! 💌 If the title grabbed your attention well enough to open this email, welcome again to Shade Cactus!

  1. My 2024 word of the year is Aesthetic and it has increased my pleasure tenfold when it comes to appreciating beautiful things around me: clothes, candles, plants, words, food, wine, and ideas.

Even the way a match strikes when it’s lit — hold it for a moment. The imminent burn is worth it. 🔥

  2. I’ve been really vibing with others who are writing in a linear, listicle format lately (bullets of things they’re into, reading, thinking, loving, etc.) so this week — and probably once a month — I’ll be leaning into it, too.

  3. Paging Adventure is growing! 🥹 I get quite a bit of pride in seeing the analytics tick up (because hey, they do actually matter, and that’s okay!) I’m just about to hit 11K followers on Instagram so if you’re not following yet and want to help me get to that milestone, follow me here.

(For those who don’t know what Paging Adventure is yet, it’s where I share about the habitual travel adventures my husband and I get up to with our furbaby, Penni!)
