It’s summer! It’s hot and sticky; life-giving and draining. It’s nostalgia for summer break freedom and yearning for that sweet relief of autumn. I still consider myself a lover of summer (yes, even as an adult!) because I am a lizard who loves to lie on red rocks and soak in the sun. (Although, I could absolutely do without the Kansas humidity.)
Kansas summers can be a treat because… we’re right next to Colorado!
As a habitual traveler, driving 10 - 14 hours to Western Colorado feels worth it for summertime in Colorado. My husband, Sam, and I (with our sweet Penni pup) have explored many areas of Colorado now during the hot months because there truly is nothing like it.
Most recently, we explored Buena Vista. Fun fact: it’s pronounced BEW-NA, like beautiful, by the locals. (The more you know 💫) Making the most of the four days we were there, here’s everywhere we hiked, biked, ate, and camped!
